Bags are needed to hold items for quests; and, if you only have the small bag you start with, then you will be stuck doing one quest at a time, making for very slow experience. Buy the largest bags you can, whenever you can. Just don’t neglect your training.

If you are new to WoW, I suggest taking up tailoring and skinning at level 5. If you are going to kill the animals anyway, you might as well skin them for some extra cash. As a tailor you can make cheap bags. If you are a castor, then you can make cheap leather gear too.

Finally, you will want some sort of quest helper. A quest helper is an add-on that will greatly improve your levelling. The fastest way to level is through quests. Quests provide you with all the skill, money, and gear needed to power level.

A quest helper can show you where to go to complete a quest, preventing you from wandering around and shouting for directions. Frankly, I have been spoiled. I will no longer play WoW without a quest helper. Newbies and veterans alike will benefit from the use of one. No power leveling guide is worth a penny if it doesn’t include a quest helper.

Personally, I have changed my talents so many times I can’t count. There were times I wanted to raid to get gear. First I had my hunter spec’d for raiding. After I got my purple gear, I decided I wanted PVP gear. I can afford to be flaky because I have been playing since day one. However, most players will want to save their gold.

If you really want to level your hunter fast, you are going to need a quest helper and a talent guide. Quests provide fast levelling and quick cash. A good quest helper will show you where to find the mob that drops what you need. Then, it will help you remember where to return the dropped item. The best quest helpers will show you how to do two or three quests at once, saving you even more time.

Streamline the disbursements handling process

The problem that every practice faces is ensuring that an expense or disbursement that has been claimed by a fee earner has been allocated to a matter, and that this expense or disbursement does eventually get billed against that matter.

Fee earners will spend non?chargeable time diligently completing their expense claims. In addition, the travelling element and general nature of criminal work makes it difficult to schedule time in a working day to complete this time consuming process.

The new Disbursements Control function which has been added to DPS Crime, addresses this issue and controls all claims. This function automatically completes fee earner expenses claims, saving them time and effort. It also automatically ensures that all claims are billed to matters.

This is a classic win?win situation. Less effort is needed for the process and more time is saved, whilst the practice ensures that every matter?related disbursement has been claimed by the practice and paid to the fee earner.

This function has initially been developed for criminal practices and ensures that all disbursements ‘make’ the CDS claim forms.

A ‘Fee Earner Disbursements Report’ is produced each month, or as requested, per fee earner showing their travel, fares and other disbursements for the period in question. This report is, in effect, the fee earner’s expense claims and is produced as a by?product of their attendance notes. Fee earners can then attach receipts to the form and submit it.

All disbursements entered into the DPS system are automatically captured with the appropriate costs on the fee earner reports and will then, if necessary, be added to the correct CDS claim form.

This process means that fee earners do not have to create expenses claims for these items to the practice. The practice can log all the disbursements paid on a per fee earner basis in a single ledger and the practice only pays what is being claimed.

As a result of this process, fee earner disbursements are held and can be reproduced historically. The Disbursement Control function shows how DPS can provide a solution for a specific management issue in a practice. Disbursement handling is a major issue as fee earner and management time is lost which in turn incurs costs for the practice as a whole.

The system can be modified to other areas of law that require expenses control.

Animated talking characters versus Video Representatives

We seem to be in a fast moving world, driven by media and of course the ubiquitous world wide web. Over the last few years with the role out of fast internet connectivity and wireless technology a convergence has taken place, now everywhere you go on the internet it’s all about media, streaming and animation, but do these types of multi-media experience actually work, do they enhance the visitors experience or are they just an irritation? Well it would seem, that depends on which side of the fence you are sitting.

Let’s take “Animated Talking Characters” a more sophisticated form of the Avatar, and, the new breed of “Video Representatives”. Both are forms of integrated media, but that is where the similarity ends.

Why do games authors and dear old Disney use animated 3D characters in their films, surely it would be easier to use a real actor, certainly cheaper and undoubtedly faster to bring to market. 

Animated Characters are somewhat anonymous, they can have their own unique characters purely from the look and general mannerisms, we know they are not real and as such we find it easier to maintain a simple relationship even an endearment. Real Human Video however is something completely different, we can be judgemental even bigoted, we can have embedded pre-conceptions relating to the look, sex, nationality and accent, due to our own or “hear-say” experiences, combine these aspects of a Real Human Video and you end up with a potential problem.

Let me give you an example. You visit a website selling real-estate or cars and you are immediately met with an animated sheep, now you may feel that this is somewhat out of place, but your attention is immediately grabbed by the inappropriate, in an amusing way. The sheep greets you and outlines all of the benefits of a particular product or service, the site is consequently “memorable” possibly “humorous”, “informative” and hopefully without offence, no-body can be anti-sheep! (unless you were attacked by one when you were young) the site therefore has achieved a number of positive results. There final bi-line could even be .. “get a free cuddly sheep with every purchase!” they have even turned the incongruous into a benefit and made the sheep relevant, from experience you now feel  it must be a “mascot” or a “branding exercise”, the sheep is significant, you are now comfortable, and without knowing it have accepted the sheep! and forget your initial mild shock.

The second site again selling real-estate or cars greets you with a Real Human Video, now we have other aspects, do you like the look of the person in the video, hair, weight, height, clothing, style or lack off, accent, and general approach? Because we have never been enticed to buy by a sheep we have nothing negative to say, however because we have all been hit on by the hard sell, we are infinitely more sceptical when it’s a Real Human Video! Most of our judgements are made in the first few seconds, I don’t like the look of them so… I am turned off. How many times have you not rented a video or changed channel because you don’t like the actor even though you know they have never done anything to you, it’s our human ability to be instantly judgemental. Now, how many times have you thought to yourself I don’t trust that animated character, that Tom & Jerry,  I wouldn’t trust them and Homer Simpson is really dodgy, we just don’t do that, because our brains know they are not part of our “competition” they will not judge us so we have no need to judge them, deep breath, and relax. It may seem like a silly example but that’s how our minds work, something the marketing industry is very aware of!

Why are there so many Video Representatives appearing on the web? Well that one is simple to answer, it’s easy technically to do, it requires no special technology and very little know-how, and looks like a convincing idea, do its seemingly easy to sell, the only problem, is, it does not have the same appeal, novelty and effectiveness as “non-real” animated characters, and we have a tendency to judge in an instant, usually negatively. So why take the risk and reduce the effectiveness that is available from Animated Web Characters.

Real Video Representatives are also restrictive, you can only have a human, no animals, or fantasy, they require time to produce due to the process and the production costs are significantly higher than an animated talking character options.

Animated Talking Avatars can have their content changed in a instant, can be any shape or size, are eminently brand-able are less obtrusive and generally more appealing. Cost less and the content or narration can generally be generated by the purchaser with ease. The list goes on.

So what is a Watt, well in the International System of Units, it is a derived unit of power; the power of a system in which one joule of energy is transferred per second. Symbol: W. Okay got that? right moving along….

For the rest of us its a measure of how much energy it takes to run something be it a computer, hair dryer or an electric light bulb. The higher the wattage the more energy it will use. So the lower the wattage the less energy it uses so the less it costs us to run it.

With traditional bulbs the wattage is used as a gauge to how bright the bulb is. Whats amazing with LED light bulbs is they are a lot more efficient at converting to electricity to light. A traditional bulb wastes about 97% of its energy producing heat. A CFL about 90%

This is why LED light bulbs are such energy and cost savers : an LED bulb rated at 5 watts is gives out the same amount of light as a CFL bulb rated at 16 watts and the same as a traditional bulb rated at 60 watts. The plucky little led uses 92% less energy than the traditional bulb. Which is great for the environment and great for your wallet.

The future is bright: the future is LED

The lighting industry has been subject to some major changes in recent years with the continued advancement of the energy saving CFL light bulbs and the decision taken by the EU to outlaw all incandescent bulbs by 2012. Despite all the consternation with CFL bulbs there is one topic that seems to be increasingly interesting: LED light bulbs.

Many lighting experts believe that the future of the lighting industry rests with LED technology. However what are the advantages and disadvantages of LED lighting in its current form? In this article I will detail the history of LED technology and discuss what LED lamps have to offer to the lighting market today.

Originally used in devices such as alpha numerical displays and pocket calculators the LEDs have recently seen successful application in commercial and domestic lighting. Two of the biggest factors that are encouraging consumers to change their lighting to LED are: -

  • They are the most energy efficient bulbs on the market today, cutting carbon emissions and reducing energy costs.
  • They last longer than any bulbs available on the market, reducing maintenance and energy costs further.

So why isn’t all lighting changing to LED? The initial cost of buying LED products can be daunting for lot of consumers of particularly in the commercial sector, where the quantity of bulbs required is higher. However, when considering the total cost of ownership, LEDs far surpass incandescent and halogen lighting and are starting to threaten CFL bulbs. One of the highest costs involved in producing LED bulbs is heat sinking, without adequate heat protection LEDs can loose life span.

In the early days of domestic LED bulbs one common complaint was the colour of the light produced and the poor light output that was often inadequate to replace halogen spotlights. However, in recent years manufacturers have developed ‘warm white’ coloured LED bulbs, made to replicate traditional bulbs as well as high powered bulbs that incorporate  more LEDs into a single circuit board ensuring that the bulbs can match the lumen output of halogen and CFL bulbs.

Another advantage of LED lighting is its short ‘on/off time’, this has lead to many local councils in the UK changing their traffic lights to LEDs, not only making them more efficient but also less maintenance is needed. Court Reporting Stays Ahead Of The Technology Curve

Though most people are aware of their silent presence in the courtroom or deposition rooms, few outside the field of stenography actually understand what court reporters do.  “Don’t they type on those funny typewriters?”  Not always.  The occupation of court reporting goes back thousands of years to at least 63 B.C., when a former slave, working as a secretary for Cicero the philosopher, used his own method of shorthand to record a speech by Cato.  Using a metal stylus, Marcus Tullius Tiro used abbreviations for the most-used words and omitted words that he could easily remember. He also created a pattern of shorthand where a symbol could stand for a complete sentence.  If he had trouble understanding the speaker, he would later compare his notes with those of his pupils. The ampersand (&) is the only sign that still remains of Tiro’s shorthand, but it still has the same meaning in several hundred languages.

As technology evolved, shorthand did as well.  John of Tilbury, a monk, developed the very first system of abbreviated writing for English speaking people in 1180 - an innovation that kept court reporting ahead of the technology curve.  Later, in 1588, Dr. Timothie Bright invented a system of shorthand that had no alphabet at all.  It was made up of hundreds of characters that had to be memorized.  Over the next 300 years, court reporting became more and more refined, shortening the writing process and allowing stenographers working with pen and paper to easily keep up with fast speakers, speaking in excess of 160 words per minute or more.

Court reporting technology took a major leap in 1879, when Miles Bartholomew received a patent for his typewriting machine that used a letter for each stroke.  While this would not be directly used for stenography, as it proved to be too slow, the typewriter was later refined so the keys could represent sounds instead of letters.  This advancement was made by Ward Stone, and is considered to be the greatest contribution to the advancement of machine shorthand than that of any other. His keyboard, still in use today, relies on a minimum number of keys, reducing or eliminating the awkward reaching for keys not directly under the fingers. Using Stone’s machine, even inexperienced operators were then able to attain and break speed writing championship records.

As the shorthand machine design continued to evolve, something was needed to speed up the conversion of shorthand notes into final transcript form. In the 1950s the military and IBM worked together to develop a computerized system that could translate foreign languages into English.  IBM eventually stopped working on the project, citing there was too small a market for the technology. But in the 1970s, a group of court reporters urged NSRA, their association at the time, to help further the creation of computer-aided transcription – CAT software.

Soon, a usable system was created, allowing an individualized dictionary for each court reporter.  So while one set of keystrokes may represent one thing to one reporter, it may have a totally different meaning to another.  The reporter then writes on the steno machine, and an English translation is decoded onto a computer screen.  This is the technology most widely used today.

Like the other big names in the industry, Steve Jobs also steers clear of unnecessary media attention and wants to keep his life as private as possible. He’s not a big fan of interviews. Digging up information about his colorful past, as well as his future plans, is up to the ingenuity of the press. The only times he’s eager to go public are during his stage appearances on Apple events, when it’s all about informing the public on the freshest gadgets and most recent upgrades.

Yes, he is quite a mysterious persona, but for some reason, the media is still fixated on anything Steve Jobs. Without a doubt, Steve Jobs is considered “royalty” in his niche. Rich countries and multinational cooperation’s nations have  developed technology to solve problems facing people in their life. Despite the fact that technology has been helpful in many fields, it is sometimes destructive. Therefore, I can divide the use of technology into three types .

 

   The first type of use is the positive side of technology. For instance, the use of technology for Educational purposes . In school we can use technical aids such as computers, Cds, data show, Documentary camera, microscopes, projectors, scanners for teaching students’ science, math, language etc. This kind of use is helpful and we recommend it very much because it helps our student to be better in the future.

  1. The second type of use  is the negative one. It is  invented just for bad purposes such nuclear weapon which was made just to kill people , animal , plants and life. This kind of weapon should be forbidden. Chemical weapon also destroy peoples life, animal and plants and it should also be stopped. This kind of technology is not helpful at all .  

 

The third type of use is the neutral side of technology (I would say) which uses technology in both sides; positive and negative. For example, using internet which might some way draw some people to use internet in a negative way such as having a use of pornography sites, deviate for drinking alcohol and drugs, smoking intake as well aggressive behavior leading to criminal behaviors . Another example is using satellites for spy other countries secrets.

   At the end, I would like to say that technology users are the ones who can decide to make this technology beneficial or harmful for them . So we encourage governments to educate people by any means of media how to use technology in a good way

A led TV is an LCD TV that uses LEDs to illuminate the display. Verification of UID Labels for UID Compliance

UID labels are important part of the UID marking procedure of the DoD. The data that are required to be etched on the UID labels are provided by the DoD so that contractors can mark the labels as per the requirements of the organization. Moreover, it is mandated that the marking methodologies should be so that the marking should be readable throughout the functional life time of the item. Again, the labels should be affixed to the part or item permanently so that it would help the item tracking process of the DoD.

Verification of UID labels

Primarily, it is the responsibility of the contractors to assure that the UID labels are manufactured according to the UID standards. If the contractors purchase the labels, nameplates or the decals from the vendors, the DCMA is required to assure that the machine readable markings of the items are developed in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-130. If the contractors procures the UID labels form the vendors, he should provide a certificate of conformance from the vendors that mentions that the UID labels are manufactured according to the MIL-STD-130 standard. The DoD has recommended that the grade of marks is stated by the COC at the time of construction of the labels. The SAE or the ISO standards is used to determine the grade of the marking. Although the vendors present a Certificate of Conformance assuring that the labels are marked as per the UID standards, the contractors need to investigate the markings and their compliance as per the specific requirements.

Specification of Materials

There is no specification about the materials of the UID labels in the MIL-STD-130. It only requires that the materials should ensure durability. The contractors are allowed to use any metallic as well as non-metallic materials for the construction of the labels. However, the contractors need to make sure that the material of the labels doesn’t affect the item or its performance. When it comes to durability, the UID labels should be able to withstand environmental changes, heat and other cleaning process and chemicals.

Compliance for the UID Marking

The DoD instructions for UID marking informs that the UID data should be engraved on the UID labels in the form of 2D data matrix code. The standard has mentioned about the font type, and size of the symbols that are etched on the plates. The contractors should try to print as large mark as possible to ensure that the codes are readable. Although the barcodes are machine readable symbols, the MIL-STD-130 requires that there should be human readable information on the labels along with the machine readable codes.

The UID labels are verified while submitting the data to the UID Registry. Some of the products are checked during construction, while others are checked during the delivery. But the UID Registry has the right to reject the application if it finds the marking or the manufacturing of the labels not meeting the standard. Moreover, the contractors need to make sure that all the labels are manufactured according to the UID standard so that they get accepted in the UID Registry.

When a company wants to implement a new WMS system, it is always a question of cost vs. benefit.  A company should realize that this technology could provide significant operational and financial benefits to their organization. Most companies, however, are uncertain about how to cost-justify the potential spend. We will explore cost-justification further in a moment, but first let’s identify the reasons to implement WMS.

 

There are many valid reasons for wanting to implement WMS or increase the functionality and capability of your existing WMS solution:

  • The need to keep pace with competitors
  • Comply with trading partner requirements
  • Maintain customer confidence
  • Move with the times by adopting new technology
  • Increased accuracy and productivity

 However, when it comes to justifying expenditure, you need to take a hard look at the way your distribution centers are currently operating in order to see how the increased functionality is going to repay the investment. It may also be useful to consider what the additional functionality is intended to deliver and ask yourself, do I have these capabilities in the warehouse/DC right now?

 Benefits and Value

 A good WMS should be able to:

  • Give high levels of productivity and accuracy.
  • Help to achieve a consistently high level of utilization of manpower and equipment.
  • Ensure that your warehouse team works to disciplined processes.
  • Sustain a very high level of efficiency.

 In addition, you would expect the WMS reporting and analysis tools to give you detailed management information and historical traceability of stock movements. And you’d expect it to be able to exchange information with other software applications, whether your own, those of your customers, suppliers or whomever.

 Inventory control is also an obvious benefit because no business wants to be stuck with too much — or too little — product. It also makes the best use of employee’s time. “If you have 100 percent accurate reporting as to the locations of everything, and the system directs everyone on where to go to get it, staff will not be traveling up and down the aisles of the warehouse looking for the required items.”..

 So knowing how operations should function in your warehouse is the first step to calculating your ROI. If you know your operations lack some of these things, or that they are unsatisfactory you may have a clear idea about what providing or improving them will be worth to you.  If it’s not clear, then ask yourself these questions:

  • What problems or pains in our warehouse operations do we have?
  • What do these problems relate to?

 Remember that the system will not automatically resolve all problems. Where there are operational issues, they will need to be addressed in relation to the operation of the system. A system will improve many things but it needs to work in conjunction with correct operational practice.

 Calculating Cost and Payback

 At this point, understanding how much the solution might cost, and how soon you might expect to achieve payback is useful. As a very simple example, if a solution costs $175,000 and you want to achieve payback within 24 months, then you need to realize benefits of around $7,300 per month. This is not a complex, scientific approach, merely a quick way to look at the savings that the system needs to generate.

 So how do we achieve payback? There are different ways to look at this, but at the simplest level, payback is gained by increasing productivity, accuracy and efficiency at existing cost levels, or by maintaining current productivity, accuracy, and efficiency while reducing costs. Payback is the initial period of return on investment where directly related costs are recovered. Once that is achieved, savings become a return in the truest sense.

 There are many other dimensions to the payback question:

For example, what value can be placed on being in a position to accept more business from new or existing customers due to the efficiency of  your warehouse operation?  

 

Equally, how much benefit is there in maintaining a winning reputation for efficiency, not just with your customers, but with any person or organization whose business has an interface with your operation?

 To remain focused on the operational side, and determine specifically where savings will be made, you will need to consider these sorts of questions:

  •  Are your labor resources performing near optimum productivity?

If not, then some of that resource is wasted. The first priority of an efficient operation is to ensure that whatever resource is paid for is fully employed.

 

  • Are certain tasks or processes inefficient?

If so, money is being wasted while staff spends time on things that could be done more efficiently, especially when they could be performing other duties.

 

  • How many put away, replenishment, and pick errors are occurring currently?

Errors due to inaccuracy cost dearly to rectify in terms of labor, management time, extra handling, transport and related paperwork.

 

  • Are practices being supported that could be eliminated by the introduction of the WMS functionality?

In a typical operation there will be activities, especially peripheral or supporting ones that could be eliminated altogether.

 

  • Are inventory levels too high or being held for too long?

It is recognized that greater stock accuracy means stock-holding can be reduced and stock turn improved, so the associated cost of holding stock can be reduced.

 These are some key areas to examine in your operation, and for each one there may be considerable detail. There could also be unique operational considerations, where improvement might incur major benefits for the operation. Turning the answers to these questions into meaningful figures will therefore involve some time and effort.

 It is likely that both high-end and low end-figures will be produced regarding potential savings in each area. This is normal, as until the new functionality is implemented and the user learning curve has passed, optimum efficiency and productivity cannot be quantified precisely.

 Some areas will improve within expectations while others may exceed it. Ultimately the preceding exercise is very worthwhile. Its purpose is that you can be confident, first by implementing the WMS functionality that will provide benefits for the company, and second, that the benefits gained result in a timely payback and prompt return on investment.
